Life Conspires to Support You
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you not only knew who you are, but by expressing who you are by doing what you love, life would support you? The truth is it does. “But,” you may say, “I am trying to do what I love, but it isn’t working. I can’t make a living doing what I love.” Or, “I would love to have a relationship, but I can’t seem to attract the right person,” and so on.
Are You Expressing Who You Are, or Who You Are Not?
Okay, so what’s the catch? Why does it seem like knowing who you are, and expressing who you are by doing what you love isn’t working? There are several reasons for this. One is that too often you are expressing who you are not instead of who you are. Your conditioning is not who you are, for example. Your conditioning, which includes beliefs, attitudes, ways of looking at and reacting to life, is put upon you from the time you were very young. It is not who you are. You may have been taught that you should be a lawyer when you grow up, for example. So you grow up thinking you must be a lawyer. You study, work hard, become a lawyer, and end up very unfulfilled in your career. If, on the other hand, you were given the freedom to find what you loved, and you found that you loved law, then perhaps becoming a lawyer would be fulfilling for you.
Coming from your conditioning is being who you are not, not who you are. Another example of expressing who you are not instead of who you are is coming from an emotional charge. Say, for example, your father abandoned you when you were a young child. Now as an adult, every time your mate needs to work late or go on a business trip, you feel insecure and abandoned. Your mate gets home late, and you give them the third degree.
Your Unlimited Potential
So who are you? Who you are in your totality consists of your unlimited self, and your potential self. You are a multidimensional being. Your unlimited self goes by many names, Higher Self, Soul, Authentic Self, and so on. It is not bound by space and time. Your potential self is your personality self, your mental, emotional and physical bodies. It is limited by space and time. However it contains your potential. When you marry your unlimited self with your potential self, viola, you have Unlimited Potential! I will be talking more about your Unlimited Potential in future notes, and on the Authentic Living website.
Living Authentically
Expressing who you are and doing what you love is living an authentic life. Not only does living a life of authenticity attract wonderful people, situations and things into your life, it is the most fulfilling way of living you can do. So how do you begin? Begin by asking yourself, is this who I am or who I am not. Then choose to express who you are. In the beginning, you may not always know what is the authentic you in a situation. Or, you may find it difficult to express your authenticity. Do your best. As you begin to express your authenticity, even just a little, it will have a large positive impact on your life, and life rushes in to support you.
