Peer Pressure & Social Consciousness

Society is set for one of mediocrity – one of the “being the same.”  Fashion trends, music in fact everywhere you look there are a subliminal message to be the same so that you can be accepted. The pressure to look a certain way or be someone that you are not is becoming more prevalent in our society.

It’s easy to see social pressure and peer pressure as the same thing but these are actually two different forces on our minds. Social pressures come from society, while peer pressures come from people who we know personally. Peer pressures often come with rewards like acceptance or compliments, while social forces often have penalties for those who do not comply.

In today’s society, there is an increasing emphasis on “fitting in”. We see it everywhere- people trying to dress like the popular person at their school or even celebrities on TV.

This is an interesting dilemma, because in truth – each is an individual, and you are the sum of all you have been.  You cannot possible be the same as another because your beauty and magnificence is in the fact that you are all different.   That is the natural gift of life.

If God wanted us all to be the same, why would be have different experiences and why would we look so different.

The pressure to be like someone else can take so many forms, fashion trends is one for example.  We watch the same shows and notice the same fashions repeating themselves over and over.  It’s hard to be unique when you are surrounded by clones of each other.

So how do we cope?  We as a species were given a beautiful gift of senses – sight, hearing, touch, taste & smell; that we could take in all that our world had to offer. The senses are there to enable us to experience the bounty that God has bestowed upon us.

You are you and I am me – you have your own name, your own eyes, your own hair style, and each of us is given our own voice.   Each of us has our own way of speaking and we have our own expressions – and when it comes to life – we are all members of the society known as planet Earth.

Again, logical thought, why would you want to be the same as another with the same skills and expression.  If two come together with different skills and expressions they will be so much the stronger and so much enhanced by the relationship with the other.  This is a natural flow.  It would be a truly boring existence if all were in truth the same.  It is an illusion that you could be and anything that is an illusion will carry far less energy than you would in your true expression.

You cannot be truly happy without expressing yourself in a way that you feel drawn to do.  You cannot express yourself properly if you are not who you truly are.  You have to be yourself – and trust the connection of your soul as to where your life will go.   You are in control here, you are not a puppet that is forced to follow the stream of society.

The only way to clearly express who and what you are is by connecting with your soul.  This will put the right questions in place for you to answer and will give your life the correct path.

If you can find a way to connect with your soul and be true to yourself you can remain true to who you truly are and the world around you will reflect that.   If we are truthful, then we give life, positive energy.  We are then indeed blessings to those around us.

My name is Andrea and I am a lightworker. I don't have all of the answers, and in many ways, it's just a label that has been applied to me. There are no degrees or certifications involved in this vocation- but I can say with certainty that it's my calling. Like so many others, I've always felt like something was different about me- like the world wasn't where I was meant to be and that there was some other place for me where things were more peaceful and joyful.

I designed a life with meaning built into it; one where every moment was not only fulfilling but also made sense on a spiritual level. There is no need for searching or yearning because everything is right here where we need it to be - at our fingertips.
